To our Summer Staff team : Bush Fire Awareness
Dear Team,
Here is some information and instructions to help you prepare for the journey to camp:
First of all, the Station Resort Oval (where we are staying) is a designated “Neighbourhood Safer Place” – one of three sheltering points in Jindabyne and our camp director Fudge Jordan will be in direct contact with emergency services leading up to and throughout camp. Please assure family and loved ones that decisions will be made to ensure safety first.
- Look after your health – If you suffer from asthma or are prone to respiratory illness, remember to bring preventative medication on this trip. It may be smokey.
- Pack a spare mobile phone battery or power pack
- Install the Fires Near Me App. Drivers will want to consult the livetraffic.com website
If you would like to monitor the situation in the region, more for the sake of those at home, here are some ways stay informed:
- Follow the local fire services on facebook:
- Monaro Team Rural Fire Service
- East Jindabyne Rural Fire Brigade
- Fire and Rescue NSW Jindabyne
- Listen to ABC South East. You can stream online at https://www.abc.net.au/radio/southeastnsw/live/ or use the ABC Listen App. Local frequencies include Cooma 1602 AM and Jindabyne 95.5 FM
