Partnering with the Blenkinsops

Thanks for your interest in partnering with us. Here’s some more information on Young Life and my role.

Who is Young Life?

Young Life Australia is a part of a global movement (Young Life International) that works with young people in around 70 countries to shape and build confidence, values and resilience as they navigate adolescence and form their sense of meaning and purpose. In Australia, they do this through running camps, school programs, community drop-in spaces, and chaplaincy in schools. With around 40 staff, and just over 400 volunteers, Young Life Australia has an active presence in most states and territories.

One of the things I really like about Young Life is their commitment to building genuine friendships with young people over a long time, and modelling an authentic Christian faith for teens who are unlikely to set foot in a church themselves.

What is Adrian’s role?

There are 2 elements to my role. One includes mentoring key Young Life leaders, creating and facilitating training of staff in the areas of engaging youth culture, theological foundations of ministry and scripture engagement, speaking at conferences, and creating videos exploring topical areas of youth ministry. The other is leading the Converge movement, both across Australia and New Zealand, and representing this region at an international level (Converge is a relational global youth movement which is part of the World Evangelical Alliance family. Its vision is to impact every young person on planet earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ)

At a very practical level, the Converge part of my role includes continuing to lead a national research project exploring ‘what’s shaping young Australians understanding and experience of God’, an annual Converge training gathering in Australia for youth leaders, facilitating regular online gatherings for the network on topical youth ministry issues, and representing Oceania on the Converge Global Field team.
