At Young Life Australia, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for every young person. As a Child Safe Organisation, we actively implement the Child Safe Standards in everything we do, ensuring the wellbeing, safety, and protection of children and young people in our care.
We believe that keeping people safe is a shared responsibility, and we are continually working to embed child-safe practices into our daily operations, culture, and programs.
Our Policies
You can read more about how we keep children and young people safe through the following key documents:
Safe Framework Policy
View the Young Life Safe Framework Policy
Young Life Australia’s Safe Framework outlines our commitment to creating and maintaining safe environments, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, for all participants, staff, and volunteers.
This Framework reflects our mission to live out biblical, Christian principles, recognising the unique value and potential of every person. It ensures that everyone connected with Young Life fulfils their pastoral, legal, and duty of care responsibilities to deliver God-honouring, life-giving, and harm-free programs.
The Framework is part of our broader governance and operational documentation, which includes our:
- Constitution and Operations Manual
- Employment and HR policies
- Privacy Policy
- Work Health and Safety procedures
- Emergency and Critical Incident management protocols
People working at all levels of Young Life, volunteer, staff or board members, are responsible for implementing this Framework through consistent policies, procedures, and practices.
Reporting Procedure
View the Reporting Procedure
Young Life Australia is committed to maintaining environments free from abuse, harm, or violence of any kind.
Given the nature of our youth and university ministry, our staff may receive disclosures from young people or adults regarding conduct that causes harm or raises concern. Our Reporting Procedure ensures a transparent and consistent response to:
- Mandatory reporting matters (both current and historical)
- Situations involving sexual abuse or domestic violence
- Situations where there is an imminent threat of self-harm
To strengthen our response and accountability, Young Life has partnered with Creating Safer Communities (CSC), an independent organisation with expertise in ministry safety, to advise and support staff in managing these matters appropriately.
